We know exactly what life is like as an online business. That’s because, before we launched Ravelin, we ran an online business ourselves.
Our founding members created Hailo, Europe’s first truly successful taxi app. We wrestled with the delicate balance between blocking bad guys and admitting honest customers; fighting to protect our margins while preventing fraud. Dissatisfied with all the solutions we tried, we left to build our own. Ravelin was launched in 2015.
Today, all that hard-won experience as merchants continues to underpin our culture. It informs every decision we make and it’s the reason that Ravelin works better than other systems in the real world. Which should come as no surprise because, unlike our rivals, we’ve been there.
Martin was Founding Engineer at Hailo the taxi app, building the systems and team there over four years into a global business. He is a Physicist by training, but left behind an academic calling for the glamour of fraud detection and software. Martin is a father, husband and sporadic fisherman.
