Global Retail Fraud Trends 2025 – new Ravelin report

Omnichannel and online-first are the trends that many retail companies have decided to follow in order to stay competitive in a sector that's forecast to bring in $3.66 trillion in revenue this year alone, according to Statista. Meanwhile, everyone's talking about AI-enabled agentic (e)commerce and how it's expected to reshape the way consumers shop online forever.

Working with leading retail companies from across the world – including River Island, John Lewis and The Iconic – Ravelin's expertise lies in preventing fraud and abuse and allowing merchants to accept more payments with confidence.

Ravelin conducted a survey of merchants in 10 countries, centered around their fraud and payments landscape in recent months as well as their predictions.

Today, we're releasing new data for the Retail sector, including three subsectors:

  • Retail: Clothing, Accessories & Beauty – where friendly/consumer fraud has been a headache for many
  • Retail: Computers & Electronics – increasingly attacked by criminals due to high ticket items
  • Retail: Other – to make sure all voices are heard and all subsectors covered
