Digital Goods are unquestionably a huge part of the economy. And due to their digital nature, they're endemic to an ecosystem that includes online fraud.

**Revenue loss and customer PII theft are the top consequences of fraud in this sector, where **[CNP payment fraud](https://www.ravelin.com/insights/online-payment-fraud) and [account takeovers (ATO)](https://www.ravelin.com/insights/account-takeover-fraud) are the types of fraud that cost merchants the most.****

Ravelin conducted a [survey of merchants in 10 countries](https://pages.ravelin.com/global-fraud-2025-trends-survey) centered around their fraud and payments landscape in recent months as well as their predictions.

Today, we're releasing new data for the Digital Goods sector, including three of its subsectors:

- **Digital Goods: Entertainment** – companies whose digital goods focus on entertainment, including streaming platforms such as [Spotify](https://pages.ravelin.com/ravcon-2024-spotify-uses-machine-learning-prevent-fraud) and Disney+
- **Digital Goods: Event Ticketing** – companies who sell tickets which are then shown by consumers to gain entry to events such as concerts and sports competitions
- **Other Digital Goods &amp; Subscriptions** – digital goods are a diverse sector, so this category includes everything else, including subscriptions
